Georgia is home to the fifth-largest military population in the United States, including 13 different military bases. Cobb County is home to Dobbins AFB which is the largest-multi-service reserve training in the world and is appointed 50 different aircrafts with nearly 7,000 take-offs a month. More than 6,000 soldiers are assigned to Dobbins AFB, many who are parents to school age children.  School counselors play an integral role in ensuring military-connected students feel supported in their academic, career and social/emotional development. School counselors will learn to identify the unique needs of military-connected students within their schools and individual and small-group interventions to support these students.
